The Photobook: An Overview Of Traditional Publishing, Limited Editions & The Artists’ Book
(Guest Speaker)

Dan Milnor began printing his work in 1988, and creating hand-made books in 1995 using the technology available at the time. In 2010 he published his first MagCloud magazine, Manifesto (88 pages) which sold out at 100 copies. To date he has self-published hundreds of titles, from the award-winning to the experimental, materials ranging from hand-made books, modifying journals and utilizing the growing number of self-publishing platforms readily available today. Dan is a strong believer in the inherent power of being a creative member of today’s global culture.

With a passion for sharing the diversity of book forms Milnor has partnered with various organizations with interest in the book as a creative installation, traveling to multiple venues. To promote understanding through dialogue and arts, Milnor, along with Rick Elder, recently founded the ‘zine AG23; the first two issues are online here: www.ag23mag.com

Milnor has presented hundreds of lectures and bookmaking workshops in Canada, throughout the Americas, Europe and Australia. He has taught photography classes at Art Center College of Design, (Pasadena, CA) and the Academy of Art University (San Francisco, CA). His photographic works are in the collections of The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The George Eastman Museum (Rochester, NY), and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.

A former documentary photographer, Milnor now works primarily on self-generated photo and book projects. Milnor currently is known as the “Creative Evangelist” for Blurb, Inc. and lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico USA.
