Alex Webb

Alex Webb has published more than fifteen books, including The Suffering of Light, a comprehensive survey of thirty years of his color photography. His work has been exhibited internationally, with solo shows at major institutions such as the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
Webb’s photographs are included in numerous permanent collections, including those of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), the Museum of Fine Arts (Houston), and the Museum of Contemporary Art (San Diego). A member of Magnum Photos since 1979, his work has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, Geo, National Geographic, Vogue, and many other publications. He has received multiple honors, including a Guggenheim Fellowship (2007) and two National Endowment for the Arts grants.
Among his more recent publications are La Calle: Photographs from Mexico and two collaborative books with his wife and creative partner, Rebecca Norris Webb—Brooklyn: The City Within and Waves, the former newly reprinted by Aperture. His most recent book, Dislocations, was released by Aperture in fall 2023. Webb is currently working on an ongoing photographic project focused on U.S. cities.
