Jon Evans
Educational Series

Jon Evans is the Chief of Libraries & Archives at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, where he has spent the past 31 years connecting scholars, students, and the public with art research materials.
During his tenure, he has organized more than two dozen book exhibitions on a wide range of subjects, including post-war Japanese photobooks, Shakespeare in print, Aaron Douglas’s graphic work, interactive artists’ books, and Andy Warhol on the printed page. He has also provided library consultation for nonprofit organizations such as the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas.
Evans has been an active member of the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) for over two decades, serving as President of the Society in 2012 and as President of the Texas-Mexico Chapter in both 2003 and 2016. He is currently helping to organize ARLIS/NA’s first-ever conference in Mexico in the organization’s 51-year history.
In 2019, he served as guest editor for an issue of Quarterly, the journal of the Book Club of California, which was devoted to the photobook in California.
